Aatta, meaning eight in Norse (the language once spoken in Orkney) is distilled on the idyllic Orkney Islands an incredible eight times with eight whole botanicals. This hand crafted multi-layered gin has a bright juniper forward, vibrant citrus and Orkney rose hip, and a long rounded finish with gentle hints of cinnamon, vanilla and tonquin bean.

Inspired by Orkney’s mysterious dancing selkie folk, this award-winning colour-changing bottle not only looks good: Aatta gin was hand-selected to appear on celebrity chef, James Martin’s television show - and was loved by him and his guests. Following its win of the World’s Best Design and Best Bottle in the World Drinks Awards 2022; Aatta gin has since won several gold taste medals including the Great British Food Awards, London Spirits Competition and the Gin Masters Awards.

Standard Shipping takes around 3-6 days to UK Addresses, Speedy takes 2-5 days. We use Royal Mail and Parcelforce 48 hour, and 24 hour when choosing 'speedy', but as we are on the Orkney Islands, we normally estimate an extra 2 days on top of what is quoted. Please understand this delivery time is an estimate, and it is not a gurantee. It may take longer in busy periods such as Christmas. *Factors which may affect delivery times are: delays caused by weather, Royal Mail/Parcelforce delays outwith our control and shortage of stock/packaging (we will contact you if this happens).*

Your product will arrive carefully packaged in a cardboard box with fragile tape. Legally we must provide a sender address on parcels, so we name ourselves as OGC in this area to be more discreet in case its a gift.

Taste: With delightfully fresh juniper and bright citrus on the first sip, our Aatta gives a refreshing yet smooth mouth feel. Hand-picked rose-hips are opened before distillation to create a zesty and ever so slightly floral hint, with grounding earthy notes from the seeds inside. Aatta has a long smooth finish with gentle touches of vanilla and cinnamon.

Serve: We have designed our Aatta London Dry Gin to pair with a quality Indian tonic. We would recommend serving a double (50ml) with Franklin and Sons Indian Tonic over lots of ice. True to Aatta's concept of using only whole botanicals, we recommend using fresh orange as a garnish and for a delicious fresh touch - add a sprig of rosemary. Enjoy!

The tasteful bespoke bottle - designed in-house by company owner, Gary, and his daughter Erin - is based on traditional receptacles found on Orkney’s shores from times past. These bottles were made by family businesses like our own. Made to last, with intricate writing and company logos debossed into the clear glass itself. Much the same as these bottles, our business name ‘Orkney Spirits Limited’ is made into the stunning prism glassware of Aatta’s bottle and the dazzling glass stopper which matches the bevelled edges of the bottle supports a golden ‘selkie wife’ coin, oozing elegance, and class.

You may notice the colour of the inside of your bottle magically change throughout the day. That's because the inner label is cleverly iridescent, which means it has reflective colour changing properties, a bit like a mermaid actually! Out in the sunshine, it can appear bright blue, green and even pink and orange (depending on the time of day and colour of light) and indoors it can appear a very dark ominous blue.
